Who We Are

We are looking to leverage purpose-driven education, restoration, and preservation activities, to document and recognize the diverse and rich history of African-Americans in Appalachia and their contributions to the development of this nation.

What We Do
 

Genealogy & Oral History

We collect, preserve, and share the stories of African-American families from Appalachia. From oral histories to family records, our goal is to connect generations and honor our shared roots.

AAAL supports efforts to maintain cemeteries, landmarks, and historical sites that hold deep meaning for our community — ensuring that the legacy of our ancestors is never forgotten.
